Default Tapping

So I'm pretty sure one of the lifters is tapping in my 350. it should be a hydraulic lifter, unless its been switched over. but it only really starts to tap once you get over 50mph. anything before that unless you beat on it, sounds pretty good. now, i would guess that one of the lifters is not getting enough oil and thats whats causing this, but i'm not too sure. i got a quote from a local shop and they said they would charge 600 to take a look at it, look over the cam and adjust what ever needs done. they basically told me i can't adjust the valves on a hydraulic lifter, however i know you can to a degree. personally this seems a bit high, granted i've never actually done it. i've tried running a few cans of seafoam through it to clean out any of the tarnish but its not getting me where i need to be. anyone got any advice as to what it could be? its just really load tapping out of the sidepipe after you start to ride at 55ish for a bit. trying to figure out my options.

you can do it your self for free, plus the gaskets . you adjust the lash, which basically means centering the pushrod tip in the sweet spot of the lifter.

So I talked to a guy wt work and he said it could be a collapsed lifter or a lose rocker nut. You that could be it?

Could be loose rocker, collapsed lifter, pulled stud, worn pushrod, valve end, rocker or ball and seat, wiped cam lobes, dirt in lifter, timing chain loose or timing gears shot. Pull the plugs and valvecovers. Turn it over by hand and watch all the rockers as they work. If one or more don't go up and down as much you have a wiped lobe. Pretty common if your not running special oil with elevated ZDDP. Find a different shop. $600 to inspect and adjust hydraulic lifters is about $450-500 too high.

yeah, i'm starting to think its something else. the rocker nuts seem to be pretty tight. so i'm thinking its going to be a pretty costly fix. if the cam **** out on me then i guess thats going to cost the most to have someone pull it and put it in. then i also have a break leak that i need to find along with a trany leak. any of you guys know where the vin on the motor is? i checked the stamp by the head on the passenger side and its pretty much worn off. i heard they put them by the oil filter too?
