Hey, i just got a 77 L48 and i noticed the thermostatic air cleaner temp sensor was missing the hose that goes to the manifold and provides it with vacuum,i got some new vacuum line but i cant find where to hook it up to on the manifold. i have the haynes manual and the assembly manual and neither one tells me where this hose hooks up, the haynes manual just says its on the manifold but it doesnt say where. Any help would be MUCH appreciated!
This is a 78 L82 but should be the same.
To the left in the pic you'll see a yellow stripe hose that I stuck a bolt into the end. This is the air cleaner line.
Goes to the lower carb, not the manifold.
By the way,I noticed that the egr valve wasnt connected to anything so I did some more looking and saw that the ported vacuum switch had been replaced with a brass plug,so I ordered a new vac switch from work and replaced it and hooked everything up.the engine started missing and had a low idle,im assuming the egr valve is shot.i plugged the port on the carb and now it's back to where it was before.im hoping I just hooked the hose up to the wrong port on the carb since the new egr is 80 bucks.i hate To be a pain but does anybody know where the egr hose for the vac port hooks up to on the carb? I used the last picture posted as a reference and hooked it up to the far left port on the carb facing the front of the car
This is from the '77 AIM. It is the port on the carb. to the far pass. side. The vac. switch should not apply vac. to the EGR valve until the water temp. in the intake manifold reaches about 130 degrees give or take. I lowered my vac. switch temps. so they would work with a 180 degree thermostat. mike...
