1981 Ignition modular/Thermal Compound & Code 14
I was reading on this site and came across someone talking about using Ceramique Thermal Compond when replacing the Ignition Modular. In the meantime, I kept getting a Code 14 from my ECM. When I replaced the modular, I disconneted the battery. I coated the metal side of the modular with the Ceramique Thermal Compound (I replaced the Ignition Modular because I didn't know how old it was). I put everything back together, fired right up and idles better too. Anyway, I've put about 20 miles on it since I replaced the modular and no Code 14 ! I'm not complaining, however I do not understand it. I read that the paste that comes with the Ignition Modular is not adequate because of the heat that is generated. Has anyone else used the ceramique thermal conpound?
