I am only days away from being ready to apply the primer, Finally. I am going to do a color change. As of now, their are no water leaks... However with the color change, I feel as if I should remove the old weatherstripping and paint where the old stuff is. Do I really need to remove/replace $220 worth of perfectly good weather stripping? I keep going back and forth with myself if I really need to spend/waste the money. :boxing
When I had my 75 painted last year, I took off all the weatherstripping before painting and found it to come off very easily. Most of it could probably have been saved and reused, but i think it was worth the cost of new and chose that route and made a better paint job.
I did have to re-adjust the doors and convertible deck lid to close alittle better, but sure made the car sound solid when shutting the doors and eliminated a few squeaks.
If your weatherstripping is in halfway decent shape, you can remove it carefully and using some wash lacquer thinner, clean it and make it look like new. 3M makes some weatherstripping adhesive in a tube and you're all set....
