As the title says, "How much does a stripped frame weigh?" haha. (and it's not a joke, like "what does a hen weigh", lol)

Pure guess, but am thinking maybe 300 pounds. Light enough 2 people can carry it fairly easily, but heavy enough that you likely can only pick up one end of it by yourself.

I thought it was lighter than that...there may be a thread around here somewhere that was talking about that and how it fit in their pickup truck easily to get brought to the blasting shop.

Light enough that I can load one end at a time in my truck by myself.

Excellent, thanks. I was trying to determine if I need to invest in a hoist yet or not. Sounds like me and my wife and two kids could easily pull it off the trailer.

I KNOW they added to the frame in 1969, enough to note a change in shipping/curb weights. How much? I've been trying to find out forever. I cant SEE any specific differences in my database ov C3 68 and 69 frame pics, but its there. Guessing its not a big jump. I would guess they messed with the frame a bit going from C2 to 3. I know they changed mounting points, etc. Did that add weight? I dont know. I would also guess that they bolstered it a bit for the big blocks too, maybe even the 4-wheel discs. Thats a LOT more stress on a flimsy 1963 frame than a 360HP smallblock and 4-wheel drums...

Then there is the rumor that wont die, that no one can prove or disprove... that is the frames lost thickness (read: weight), in 1980. I have stats on that somewhere. And i have several weighed frames, ov different years, but they were all weighed by different people, in different states ov repair or neglect, and on different scales, even different types. So really, that data is more or less moot. I DO know where there is a PERFECT 1980 frame... doesn't even have surface rust, and you can see all the paint marks... but they guy wont strip it enough to weigh. Even if i could, i'd have to find an earlier frame in similar condition to weigh... unlikely. So this whole 'frames got lighter in 1980' rumor will likely never die, or be proven. General vague consensus is though... that they dropped about 20lbs or so, with the reduction in frame thickness.

Most guys i've noted that have weighed frames make it around 240ish... for what thats worth.

i also remember hearing 240 as the generally accepted number. you and wife and 2 kids? not a 110 lb wife and a 7 and a 10 year old. hoists can be found on FB and craigs cheap. a hoist is cheaper than a hurt family member. and there is a body and an engine lift in your near future.

Best number I could offer was 300 pounds. If 260 pounds is the weight of a 63 frame, add on a few more pounds for the pickup arm gussets added in 1968 (?). I had a bare frame for years, and I easily moved it around myself. Tumble roll it end over end, place one end on a mechanics undercar creeper and wheel it around here and there. A large 300 pound physical object is much easier to handle than a small 300 pound object. Have fun with your new frame. My frame is now a pretty complete rolling frame to go under my 70.

I'll say this again. I REALLY wish you had access to an equally-prepped/condition 80-81 frame...

I just read a magazine article about a few things they did to the 80 to lighten it, including thinner fiberglass, but NO mention was made of the frame. Hmmmm......
