Update on Distributor etc (Long N’ Boring)
I’ve gone to Robinson’s Transmission whenever I’ve had to get transmission work done on the Mustangs, and on the Freestar, Dale has always done a good job.
I went to the transmission shop to stop the positraction from clunking, Dale put in new fluid, and the GM additive. While I was there I told Dale about the distributor/tachometer problem. I said I’ll take it to Jason, he will take it apart and fix the problem.
When I went back to pick up the 74, Dale said he pulled the distributor to see if it was just the gear that needed to be changed. He said I figured if I could I would just put in a new gear for you but that wasn’t the case the shaft was stripped also. Dale called Jason told him what it needed he also told him the timing was off Jason will fix the car up Monday.
I asked Dale about my car he said well there is a bar in the front that can rust out I’ve seen it a lot but on your car its solid no rust/rot the frame looks good etc. Dale did say the leaf springs in the rear, the bolts were just hanging. He tightened those up, and said the only other thing was the chrome was missing that covers the distributor sometimes when the motor has been changed they don’t bother to put it back on. Dale said I didn't look to see if the numbers matched. I said the numbers match and I’ve got the chrome parts at home I had to take photos etc I couldn’t see a reason to put it back on when it would need to be removed again. Jason will put that back on after. I paid Dale 30 bucks it was well worth the money. I’m sure Jason’s bill will be a bit higher.
