Default Before I give up, one last question about Tachometer.

I am having all kinds of trouble getting a new tachometer circuit board to work from Ecklers. I have returned one and now the second will not work. The needle will not do anything. I took another tach out of a friend's 78 and it worked fine.

My question is, there are 7 holes on the circuit board. Three screws to in the top and plug into the harness behind the tachometer. Three more screws are mounted in the tachometer itself and go through the circuit board. What is the seventh hole for?

Thanks for any advise. I am on my wits end with this project. If this doesn't work I am going after-market!!

I know that someone ran a 12V current to the board. Is the stock power 12V or do I need to find another power source?

unfortunately the movement coils are known to open up also, and the boards are probably ok, need check with a ohm meter, take thing apart and trace wires...
junkyard tach is probably best bet, I would never bother with new circuit cards, and old one's are totally reliable....it's the movements that fail more often, this is across the GM lines...not just vettes...
