VBP brake installation
Since I bought the '75 in 1997 the brakes have always been a little soft, but they got the job done. But the constant drips on the garage floor and yearly bleeding after sitting all winter became a nuisance. But I had other things to spend money on and I kept putting off the real job.
A couple of weeks ago I purchased the VBP 12125o Caliper set, 11401 pads, & 11733 hose set and got them installed this week.
The difference in braking is awesome. I should have done this years ago.
My only suggestion to anyone doing this on calipers that have been on the car for a long time is to ALSO get the steel line that runs between the hose and the caliper on the rear brakes. The connector on one of the lines would not break loose from the hose fitting and I finally gave up and cut the whole thing out. The other hard line had been rubbing against the sway bar stabilizer link (I also replaced the bushings while I was there) and would probably have split open soon.
VBP - You might think of adding these short lines to your hose kit, or at least offer them in an optional kit. I did not want to order online and wait so I just bought a section of line and bent and flared my own, but others might not have the tools for this.
