One of the best books ever written was "How to rebuild your small block Chevy" by David Vizard. It was written 40 years ago, but the process hasn't changed.

Another great book is "How to hotrod small block chevrolet engines" by Bill Fisher and Bob Waar. It's kind of dated (also written 40 years ago), but still a good reference.

Yes, but only moderately. For all out theory and statistics, you have to go back to the original Chevrolet engineering manuals.

Maybe it's too much theory (even if I'm an engineer), but just to understand the basics of all the components of a SB...???

Thank you so much by the way!

In that case, you should be okay with the two books I mentioned above. Both go into the basics of what each component does.

This the modern version of the classic:

For practical theory, the Vizard books are the best; below is one example:

couple exellant titles recomended by Billla. When ordering these be sure to get the latest versions. I would also recomend SA Design books by Grahm Hanson. A quick search of that author on amazon will set you up with pleanty of usefull reading.

Enjoy
