I know chevy called this a vortec but the "better" vortecs came out in 96. Will the accessories from my 78 bolt right on. And the big questions are will my intake work and does this year have roller lifters?
Thanks for the knowledge

the cutoff year for gen 1 is 1986, so you cannt put a 78 intake on a 95.

I also had a 96' Z28 with LT1 engine. While similar to Gen1 small bocks there were some differences. While not important here, the rear main seal mounted different. For accesory mounting consideration, the water pumps were driven off the cam, so no belt pulley. Also, reverse cooling was used, where coolant entered the heads first, so is upside down. While good engines, also had their share of strange leaks.

Not true on the cutoff. L98 heads will support early intake manifolds.

I'm gonna pass. $400 for a "fresh rebuild" seemed awful good but I'll stick with an earlier block I know or a later Vortec which has the better potential. Thanks
