I solved my problem. I told the local tire shop that I didnt care what BF Goodrich said about it only being suitable for 7.5" rims, and to just put them on. So i had him put the 225 70 15 on the front, left the 235 70 on the rear. solved the issues with clearance. here it is now.

Gentlemen, if you take a moment to look at all of the cars that are pictured here, you'll see that each car has a different ride height. This, in turn, affects where you might have tire clearance issues, as different parts of the bodywork are close to the tires at different places.

FWIW, the factory "clearanced" the front fenders on the '78 and later cars, at the lower front edge of the fenders.

"77c3"....not to be overly critical of your car, but if I had been in your shoes, I would have attacked any clearance issue you might have faced, by getting the car back down to a more "normal" ride height. I'm sure that you're most likely not the original owner of the car, and the springs were probably installed by a previous owner. Secondly, in order that you could rotate your tires on a regular basis, I would have stayed with the same size on both ends of the car. Just my $0.02 worth....

I settled for the Cobra radial GT, which I think is essentially the same tire under a different name. The 255/60-15 is .30 inches smaller diameter wise, not really noticable. I wanted the T rated tire for that extra 6 MPH. LOL!
Not to be a "wise-azz", but those tires "fill up the wheel wells" because the ride height of the car is "dead on".

My wife had a '79 C-3, for a number of years, and I changed out the springs while I was doing a full rebuild, back in the mid-90s. I used 'Vette Brakes & Products 460 lb/in coils in front, with a half coil removed, and their composite spring in the rear, with the bolts adjusted to match the ride height of the front. When I was finished, her car sat at the same height as "TheDucci"s....
