I need new wires on my 73 454 Vert. I just removed one that will not fire and thought the date code is strange. I would of thought it would of been marked 4Q73 or even 2Q73 but 4Q95? Doesn't that mean 4th quarter of 1995? Any ideas why they would mark them 95? I'm guessing that's when they were made. I guess it time for the credit card if I want this to run right. Not sure if I'll buy the undated wires ($25 cheaper) or buy new re-pops with the a 73 date stamp.
I should add I just read an old post where someone bought new wires and slid the braiding over them to look correct. An interesting idea. It's been a while since I bought wires. Which ones do you guys like?

Ok, I think I figured it out. They were still making these wires as replacments. So the 95 date was the time of manufacture.
Does anyone know when they stopped making these?

Correct !!!
I just bought a set from L L and added a few bucks to have the correct date done on them, but GEEEEEEEZUS / $20.50 for shipping / THEY ARE OUT OF CONTROL !!!! weighed less then 2lbs
they said it was handling
NO TRACKING, NO INSURANCE, NO OVERNIGHT DELIVERY. good thing they have you by the *****, being they are the only ones to sell them wirebraided / date coded correctly that I know of . They would be LONG out of business if there was a bit more competition..............STILL CANT GET OVER THAT CHARGE !!!!
Mike does GM still make them? I have found repops.
I spent the better part of today reading about these wires. L L has some bad reviews, sounds like their wires don't hold up very long. It almost sounds like I would be better off buying a universal wire kit from Moroso and slidding the old braiding over them before I crimp on the new ends. They would not be "packard" marked or date coded but I bet they would run well.
