Default Rag joint removal - Follow up...

Finally finished the install of the new flange and coupler today. There was some discussion on what would be easier to move, the steering gear or the coulumn for clearance. What I learned from this job is that I should have moved the column first.
I did drop the steering box down, and it gave me the clearance I needed, but when I bolted it back up, I found that the angle of the flange and coupler was off, not allowing them to seat properly. Wound up having to drop the column anyway, just so I could line it up with the steering box output shaft. Would have been alot easier if I had just done it that way to begin with . At least now I know why the last coupler was so torn up - ripped almost completely through!
Anyway, now I know how a sportrscar is supposed to handle! :smash: Big difference in steering response.
Tom

Did you use a GM coupler or a coupler repair unit?

Went with a new GM unit from Zip. The less hassles for me, the better.
