I have a 70 Vette and installed a Street Fire MSD unit along with a Accel Pickup.
At first the power antenna stopped working and I discovered a broken switch. Fixed and thought that would cure the problem.
USA Corvette radio works great with the engine off. Many FM stations and a few AM loud and clear. Start the engine and I can only receive two of the stongest FM stations and no AM. No buzzing on FM just no reception. Am does pickup interference and changes pitch while reving the engine.
Everything I find on the net refers to speaker noise and buzzing but no reference to reception. Would the MSD noise suppressor help?
Other suggestions? I know the MSD is grounded well, but I did not do the radio install, but it worked well before the MSD
I had the same setup on my 68 and had to run separete grounds to radio made up new for engine to frame. this MSD ignition hits HARD but puts out a lot of RFI. this helped me.
I used the noise filter #8830 refered to in the previous link and it helped. Also, you may want to consider your battery; all the noise went away completely when I changed to a larger (1000 cranking amp) battery! I didn't plan it that way, but it was time for a new battery, and I noticed the benefit.

What's the point of putting in a whiz bang ignition if you offset its "performance improvement" by putting in a 40 pound battery?

The "old" battery weighed about 40 lbs. also. It was around 750 cranking amps. Changing to a better ignition, say points to electronic, has always given me about a 3 tenths quicker 1/4 mile........that's equal to a 300 lb. car weight decrease......that offsets any battery change.
