Default a/c compressor leak

just finished getting my air working on 1975 coup. Now a week later I have a leak in the back of compressor I tried tightening up the 3 bolts there but still seeps out . There must be a seal in there is it possible to replace it and stop leak? 134 in it. Still throws cold air. But I know eventually my 134 will all leak out any ideas ?

Assuming you have the GM long A-6 compressor which the car came with, there's an o-ring in the rear head which is probably your problem. Putting soapy water around it will verify it.

If you don't have one, get an overhaul manual for your Vette which will help with the o-ring's replacement. It's not a complicated repair, but obviously the refrigerant will have to be removed as well as the compressor from the car to make the job easier. I have the GM overhaul manual for a '74 which is basically the same as a '75. If you are interested in it, PM me.

The o-ring can be purchased at Advance Auto in kit form. At least they had them a few years ago.
