1982 ECM connectors - removal

Can anyone help

I have an 82 and want to remove the ECM. What I cannot figure out is how the connectors release from the ECM. There seems to be a small tag on one side of each connector, and it looks like you need to squeeze these inwards and then pull the connector out. However I have tried this gently, as I do not want to break anything, but the connectors do not release. Am I missing something?

you have to pull up the carpet be hind the drivers seat 1st. then take out battery.

It is difficult to get the connectors off if they've not been pulled before ..... the clip you describe is the only one .... and its just a matter of wiggle and pull ... they will come off ...

Thank you for your reply. The connectors are a very tight fit. Do I just need to squeeze the tab inwards then pull on the connector?
