antenna problem 1981
was driving the vette, then when i turned it off, the power antenna wouldnt go down but its constantly trying to pull it down, i unhooked the battery so it wouldnt die, need help on how to fix or even be able to look at it a video would always help, im still new to mechanics, i have no knowledge of cars and im trying to learn though please help!

Sounds like the antenna mechanism broke loose inside. You might be able to fix it, but that means removing it from the car and disassembling. Some of the units you can get a new mast and the nylon piece inside that winds around the spool.

They make a good after market replacement that you can get from most of the vette's part houses for around $90 and it worked fine on mine. Bypasses the original relay and wires straight to radio. If replace recommend to replace the antenna from the radio to the mast too since original one may be weak from age. Only difference I see is after market sticks up about 1/2 inch whereas orginial was more flush with deck.

Sweet, I really appreciate all the help! I really like this forum already 
there are a few other minor things wrong with her I just don't know how to do it yet lol, but I'll see about getting a replacement to see if that does the trick
