EST - HEI distributor ecm input issue
My stock '81 started to miss, gradually got worse so I began to troubleshoot; found with the 4 wire plug disconnected on the dist, the problem goes away.
Specifically in the plug, from the shop manual, the wire labelled "ignition module bypass outlet". Unplug this wire and it runs smooth. Plug it back in and it begins to miss, sometimes badly.
I changed out the module, same issue. No codes, throws a CEL when the plug is not connected however. Goes out immediately when plugged back in.
Stock E4ME carb, ecm, functioning ecm and CEL. No codes found. No light during operation, only at start up. Runs pretty good with the ecm unplugged distributor.
Anyone ever been down this road?
