Default parking brake cable disconnection

Okay so this seems dumb but I'm trying to get my trailing arms off for rebuild and I can't figure out how to get the parking brake cable off. I disconnected the primary brake line, got the t/a retaining pin, castle nut, pivot bolt, and shims out. I'm ready to pull the arm aside from the parking brake. The Haynes manual and AIM aren't really helping here. I slid the rubber cover back near the spring clip, which I removed (it broke in half), but I'm not sure how to get the thing off the trailing arm. It has a hex-ish 1" long metal piece but it seems to be <9/16" and >1/2" in diameter and just wiggles/slips when I try to rotate it counterclockwise with a 9/16 wrench.

image is one I found on google, seems to be a c1/c2 from this forum. Just trying to explain what park I'm talking about here:

Are you trying to remove the "Mickey Mouse" clip?
If yes then turn the clip so a round ear is facing down a pull it off with a pliers.

No the clip is off. I just can't figure out how to disconnect the cable itself so I can get the trailing arm off. Maybe it isn't supposed to come off here, and it is removed at the wheel/drum brake or closer to the frame?

basically, how to get this cable out of the bracket

If you have the wheel off, you'll see another of those "mickey mouse" clips on the TA. Remove that one as well.

If you need to take the cable completely off, you'll need to remove it from the ebrake drum pawl itself (a real PIA).

I don't need it off the car, just need the trailing arms free. I'll look for this other clip, thanks.

If you just want the arm to be free there's no need to remove the cable from that location. Remove the wheel and you should see the parking brake cable being held onto the arm by another bracket/Mickey mouse clip that looks similar to the one on the pick. You also have to pry off the ball stud located behind the rotor.

The cable housing does not twist out. Where the cable attaches to the lever at the wheel, twist and lift the cable end out, then pull it out of the trailing arm bracket. The cable and housing will stay with the car when the trailing arm comes out.

Thanks for the info... I couldn't see well where the cable connects to the wheel as the trailing arms are still hanging in their pockets, but I'll try to carefully remove them so I can rotate the arms and see the inside of the wheel to get the cable slackened & out

okay I flipped the trailing arm over but I still don't quite get how to loosen the cable. Do I have to take the brake caliper off first? I'll need to remove it anyway to send off for t/a rebuild (I assume) but I was hoping to be able to remove the caliper on a bench instead of hanging under my car.

Got my camera going again, here's my actual t/a:

You need an AIM and shop manual. They are most helpful.

This below and in line with the drive shaft.

I have the AIM just wasn't sure what steps to take. Don't want to do more than necessary. I'll check it out tomorrow...

I figured it out. The parking brake cable is connected to the wheel by a little ball at the end of the cable. I just tapped it out with a hammer and screwdriver. Came right out with the rest of the trailing arm disconnected, didn't need to go near the front of the car. It was pretty inaccessible until I had the arms on the ground.
