I did the same thing on mine and above all the hood was shut! Big pain in the a..! I had to unscrew the hood from it's hinges and force it open remove it alltogehter and then reroute the new cable! It is quite difficult to route the new one. Try looking at corvette central or zip corvette for some drawings, otherwise I can send you a photo from assembly manual if I will find it! Good luck with the repair!
Perfect. I found a great picture of it on corvette centrals website.
But now I can't get the cable to fit through the black casing. Any thoughts?
Keep trying, because the black casing is just the beggining of the whole thing and it gets smaller when it goes through the firewall. One suggestion though, lubricate the new cable with some grease, that way the cable won't rust so quickly and will last longer and it will be easier put in the place.
As the black casing ends in the cabin the cable goes in very thin, I would call it a wire wrap. Keep trying to hit the center but you must do that by feel because you can't see nothing. It will go through just have patience and find the entrance to the wrap.
Good luck!
