Setting Valve Lash, what does this mean?
VALVE SETTING: INTAKE .022 EXHAUST .022 ----> HOT
Does this mean I should put a .022 feeler guage in and tighten to that point with the engine hot? Or should I just do normally? This is in the 69 427.
Here is the whole cam card http://dab7.cranecams.com/SpecCard/D...1=Display+Card
Thanks in advance for you input
If you are using hydraulic lifters, the numbers mean nothing.... the adjustment procedure is entirely different.
The .022 numbers are for adjusting solid lifters when the engine is hot.
I do it with the engine running, slipping the gage under the rocker tip.
When the gage can just barely be inserted without pressure, and the rocker does not "bind" on the gage (preventing it from being easily removed), I tighten the adjuster.
The reason it is done "hot" is due to heat expansion of parts. When cold, the reading will vary and will be out of range.
You need to know which you have before you go forward.
Solid Roller Lifters (lash adjustable manually with feeler gage)
Hydraulic Roller Lifters (lash adjustable by sequence/number of turns)
