WHY?

Sell the manual car and buy a auto trans model.

I agree as well, but that is not what he asked. I usually go the other direction to a 4speed. The 4speed car doesn't have a removable transmission cross member, this will make it a little harder.

None of the off the shelf shifters (B&M, etc) fit in the console of the C3's if that's what you're asking. Someone made one fit, but he fabricated around a bunch of stuff.

Stock shifter would work just fine though.

You could probably team up with someone looking to make the auto to manual swap and get everything you need.

I'm a few years off from doing it myself.

One of the cars I had (not a Vette) was originally a 4spd and I put an auto in it for drag racing. Left the pedals in there and the clutch pedal just rest against the floorboard. Figured that way it would be much less work to change it back and also keep the main parts for resale value. Was a wise choice when I sold it for sure.

Why do you think switching to a TH350 will solve your transmission destruction problem? Are you trying to drive the 4-speeds without a clutch or something?

Automatics are almost always a more consistent trans for racing (if you're talking about drag racing, which I assume you are). Sounds like you have the right idea - don't destroy the car as a factory 4spd car, but make the auto work around it. It can be done.
