Default strange noise and wobble

I am at a loss. I have a 76 that feels like the rear end is binding up when hot. i first noticed a problem after an hour drive backing into the drive way the rear end clicked and i felt a slight wobble in the seat. the just recently going forward after another long drive releasing the brakes to idle into the garage just as the car started to roll the click noise again and felt like the car wobbled side to side in the rear end. I thought there was a ujoint problem so i replaced them all. the test drive after the clicking was still evident. does anyone have any ideas on what to check next

Thanks
George

Posi traction clutches.

But, These years are notorious for rear wear. You need to check it out thoroughly.

I'd check the side yokes on your diff also, maybe TA bushings... I don't know, I'm a pretty new Vette owner myself...

At the very least you could add posi-track fluid to the rear and see if that helps.....sometimes that's all it needs if your lucky.

Prominent in the mid-late 70s the rear side yokes wear into the rear. Noted by recession of the shafts to the point that the U-bolts hit the housing and the keeper clips come off. Lots of end movement, lots of metal ground up in the rear.

I have test drove the vet today and found out more. When hot the right rear tire seems to bind and let go which shakes the entire rear end. the tire can be seen jumping and the clunk noise is heard. I am thinking bearings because its getting worse and only acts up when hot.

Could be, but you need to listen, THE most common bind and release when hot, IS the posi-clutches. You asked.

Pull the rear end and have it rebuilt, or else you are going to sitting on the side of the road somewhere. Yes, it is a lot of work, but that is why we buy these cars, to work and spend money on them, enjoying them.

You will find a lot of threads on this. All of these suggestions could be it. I had the same issue and thought the rear end was suicidal. I drained the rear end gear oil and refilled with new plus 1 bottle of posi-trac fluid and it behaved like new. This is going to be the easiest and least expensive thing to try. If you still have the problem dig deeper but i bet you won't. This problem shows up when the gear oil is warm. Some other problems mentioned won't wait for a temperature change. Good Luck
