I was having a similiar problem - check out your alternator with a voltmeter to see if it is putting out the correct voltage. I replaced mine and everything is working just fine. Well, electrically anyway

Had the same issue on my 81 when I got it. I had a lot of electrical Gremlins. That circuit quit acting up after I replaced the pass side door switch and replaced the headlight switch which was intermittently working.

i am thinking it started when i screwed the pass door panel back in from the map pocket, at first it would arc the fuse right away, so i took the screw back out of the door and it stopped arcing the fuse, but it is still blowing 1 a day, i unplugged the pass door look when i took the screw out. i also have a "bubba" wired horn, so i started thinking this might be part of the problem as well, replaced the horn relay today. i am hoping the fuse settles down, if not i am gonna pull the door panel and see if i nicked a wire, and i will check the alt, it seems to charg ok by the dash gauge, but doesnt really seem to be taking the charge, but its a new battery

There is something quirky with my door lock switches. All new switches and harness but when I plug the switch in it blows the fuse you are talking about. It happened once after i unplugged the switch on pass side leaving on the harness there. Not sure what the cause but about ready to give up and just lock manually.

i ended up changing the ALT anyway, it really needed it. come to find out it was my vanity mirror wires shorting out. pulled the mirror replaced the wires, all is going fine now. i wish my power locks worked lol, and the manuals dont work either. always another job to fix, lol, nearflack, there has got be a short somewhere, have you checked the switches themselfs or the lock motors?

Chris, you need to open that door up and fix the wires you nicked, might as well to a full on fix on all the door innerds and be done with it.
There will always be something to do, so better to do a job right so you don't have to come back to it again.

Yep got new switches and harness. Whats odd is old switches dont blow the fuse, they just wont work
