Booster to M/C seal
Nothing appears to stop it from going in either way either.
The manual shows the piece but the exploded view isn't good enough to show which way it goes for sure. Anybody remember?
They are just there to hold the metal retainer in place in the recess on the master. I'm sure it's easier to get it slipped in place with the tabs away from the rubber seal, tho.
I simply kept the one pictured from an original I replaced.
Not really necessary, don't worry about it.
2 of my 4 Vettes don't have them. Some day I'll slip this seal in place if I have the master off, but just because I have it!

[/QUOTE]Actually, I believe it will stay in place better with tabs pointing towards the rubber seal, otherwise it flops around a bit.
One thing is that I noticed was that there is a hole at the bottom of the pocket where the seal goes. I'm not sure if it's a drain if fluid gets there but how does it get out? It might be a vent to let air out to insure the piston will return but either way the seal blocks it partially.
