Default Antifreeze Leak

I just recently fixed a brake issue, in the end I replaced the spark plugs and wires to solve a vacuum issue.

Took it for a drive this morning, came home for lunch and when I came back out there was a pool of antifreeze under the car. The fluid was mainly on the drivers side of the intake and only on the intake.

When I got home from work I investigated the problem. It appears that its coming from the hose right by the water neck. Below is a picture of the location.

Am I going to be able to just replace the hose and be fine? I am thinking of going ahead and replacing the water neck. If I replace the water neck, any recommendations.

Well, here's the thing: all you need to do is fix whatever is making it leak. The first thing you have to do is figure out why it is leaking, then you can fix it. Might be the hose, might be that little pipe plug in the intake manifold, might be the thermostat housing (water neck) gasket, (it looks like it's got a buncha blue goo squishing out from under it, could be an issue) could even be the intake manifold gasket (doubtful). You say it "appears" to be coming from the hose, what does this mean? is there a hole in the hose? Is it leaking from where the hose meets the thermostat housing? It could just be a loose hose clamp, for all we know, just tighten it up and you're fine. Who knows? Need more info.

It was squirting out on the outside of the hose clamp. I didn't see anything else.

that hose looks very shiny.the more you tighten a rotted hose the more it will leak.

"squirting out on the outside of the hose clamp." If this means what I think it means, then a new hose is in order. You use some pretty vague terminology for an engineer, man.

Tip: Take the old hose off, and bring it to the parts store, to make sure you get one that will fit.

I'm an electrical/software engineer by schooling. Mechanical is not my strong suit, but I'm learning.

Is there anything else I should check while I'm wrist deep in this?

Thanks for the help!

If the thermostat is as old as the hose, I would replace it as well as the bottom hose while I had it apart. Plus new coolant.

make sure you put hose back on he same way it came off, in oter words, don't turn it end to end, it makes a difference which way it goes back on.

Yeah, but still, it seems like engineers usually just like to use very precise language, even if (actually, especially if,) they don't know what they are talking about.

OK, so now we are talking about the "while-I'm-at-it" aspect of the general situation. Drain coolant, (there should be a petcock at the bottom of the radiator, and the bottom of the cylinder block, near the oil pan) new upper and lower hoses, might be a good idea to replace the heater hoses while your at it, using all new, good quality hose clamps, new thermostat and thermostat housing gasket, new radiator cap, fresh coolant. That's about all I can think of. Good luck!

Any idea how old that rubber fuel line is? Some people will tell you that it is flat-out unacceptable to have rubber fuel line after the fuel pump, but I think it's OK, as long as you keep an eye on it. Make sure it is not rubbing on anything, and replace it with new hose every year or two.
