What is the splitter piece called. Hoses from the heater core plug into this 'thing' and it goes to the water pump on the LS1. I can't remember what it is called.
Just an fyi. The LS series motors are designed to have coolant running through the heater core at all times. If you have the option, replace the original 2 port HCV with a 4 port that allows coolant to circulate even when it's closed.

Okay, this just became more complicated....
Is there a diagram showing where the 4 ports will be connected to?
Is there a certain model of car I can use when trying to find the 4 port HCV?
Is your HCV vacuum operated?
If so there are a couple options. You can find some part numbers if you search "heater valve" over at the conversion forum at LS1tech.com.
The installation is really simple.
Search for 4-Seasons #74781, it's a 4 port valve used on 95-00 chevy trucks, $14.
