I am in the process of putting the A/C back in my 71 small block that has headers installed. I do not have all the compressor brackets I am missing the front bracket that mounts to the engine block and the lower bracket that attaches to the exhaust manifold. Before I buy both of them I wanted to know if they would work with headers? I pretty sure that I need the front bracket but what about the lower bracket? The next question is will they work with "Tall" valve covers"?
Did you check on the header manufacturers web site to see if their headers work with A/C?
Yes, They sell a bracket that replaces the lower bracket. I have heard that some of those brackets flex a little and can cause you to through a belt. I understand that some of the original lower brackets can can be ground off or modified to work.
You need the original front bracket but not the rear. Some guys have ground their old rear brackets and uses spacers. The one above was simpler and cleaner. It works well.
