Default Heating up

I have a '78 L48 Original car. My problem is when the car heats up it will not start. Let it sit and cool down and it starts??? I have replaced the Battery and the Alternator.

Starter and solenoid are absorbing engine heat, very likely from the exhaust manifold/pipe. It the stock heat shield in place?

tell us more of the problem, like no crank when hot, or slow crank when hot, etc. That way we can help more.

Possibly a bad starter. Get it checked. When the starter gets hot, it shorts out and when it cools off, the epoxy hardens and separates the shorting wires again, in either the armature or stator. I'm guessing that's it.

There is no crank or noise of any kind. But if I boost it it cranks and starts just fine.

If it was just the starter, the solenoid would click. No sound at all means you have no solenoid function. The solenoid could be bad, but a common problem is heat soak causing the solenoid coil to be weak magnified by old switches and wiring.
