Default Heat/sound absorbtion materials

I have heard of Lizardskin heat/sound absorbtion materials in the past. I was wondering if any have used this and if so, what are your thoughts? The sprayable material seems very easy to apply both inside and outside the cockpit area. Here is a link to the web page. http://www.lizardskin.com/sound-control-insulation.html
Thanks Al

The stuff works, but the name brand stuff is extremely expensive for what it is. You can make a very effective coating by adding ceramic microspheres (microbaloons) to latex enamel paint. I've used this "formula" successfully on a number of cars.

Search the hot rod boards for "homemade lizard skin"; there's a lot of information out there. Also, I seem to remember that a member here - Maine Vette- did some testing of these coatings as well.

the good thing about Lizard Skin is it's Class A Fire rated, provides a non-combustible thermal insulation, able to withstand temperatures up to 500°F (260°C). Before they changed their website, there were some pics and a testamony of a customer who had a nice project going on a old Panel ******, and the shop caught fire, and he had sprayed it with Lizard Skin, and the ****** survived the fire.

Home Made Lizard skin is easy and a LOT cheaper than the commercial product. Order 1 bag of this stuff.

then go to home depot or lowes and buy a gallon of oops paint, thats the stuff people bring back for wrong color etc. Have them add as much black to it as they can, mine came out battle ship gray, more or less. Get an extra empty gallon paint can. Mix in 1/2 gallon of paint with about a half a bag of the balloons. The paint will be very thick, like oatmeal. Roll it on the floor and firewall, I put on 2 coats pretty heavy. I put on Dynomat extreem on top of that and will add a dynopad to the frivers and passengers footwell before reinstalling carpet.
I think the ballons were about $20, the paint was $7. The dynomat is pricy, you need 2 kits to do the entire car, close to $300.
