Default 15x7 Wheels on a Vette?

Help! I've got a set of 15x7 rims. I would like to mount 255's in the rear and 235's in the front. Will this work? Open to comment and suggestions.

15X7 I think they were 67-68, 69 went to 15X8. I have 265's(Ithink that is equiv. to 70 series) all the way around on my 69.

But can I put 255's on those 15x7 (American Racing P-200's) rims?

Sorry, what I was trying to say is I have the equivelent to F70's on my 15X8 wheels if the 255's are thinner profile than mine they should work just fine in 15X7. Do you know what the 255's are equal to in the old style?

Brian, my mistake I have 225/70R15 on the 69 which I was told is about the widest I could put on the 8" wheels, so I would guess 255's wouldn't work on those 7". I just went down to the garage and checked the size for you. My 93 has 245 on the front and 285's on the rear so those 255's must be pretty wide.

255's will fit on 7 to 9 inch rims.

I will check with my tire retailer on Monday also. I can get BFG T/A's 255-60-15 for $120 pair not including mounting and balance. Thanks for your help guys, if anyone has further input into this discussion, it would be appreciated! :)

Be sure that your front suspension is in good shape. If there is any wear, one or both of the front tires may rub during a hard turn. I learned this the hard way after going from P225 70R15's to P255 60R15's. :cry

If you are only going to a 235 on the front, I don't think there will be any problem. Post some pics when you get them!

Brian, welcome to the 7" outcast club :)

I'm currently running 245/60/15 all around on the stock '68 7" wheels. They fit the rim fine, and I think that the 255 would fit fine as well. The only problem is that my 245s rub very slightly on the frame at full steering lock in the front. Nothing to worry about, but the 255s might be a little worse.
