What does a Rag Joint Do???

What does a Rag Joint Do???
I always want to learn new stuff. I know where it is but what is the purpose of it? Shock attenuation? Safety shear point so the shaft doesn’t stab you during an accident? Thanks

More for shock absorption I believe... I know I just replaced mine and it made a great difference to the feel of the wheel!!!
That little disk is stiff enough to control the wheels, yet flexible enough to flex and take up some of the shock. If yours is wasted I highy reccomend a change... It's not that hard, or costly! :cheers:

Go to http://www.corvettefaq.com and look under Steering. There is a paper entitled Flex Coupling Installation Instructions. Also Flex Coupling Pics. There should be everything you ever want to know about flex couplings.
