Default Attaching a "68" Auxillary Hardtop

How do you attached/secure the 2 rear stud bolts under the deck to the hardtop??? It's my niece's L79 and she asked me to help her... I said no problem (it's so easy on my "59")... The owners manual said to pull the right latch handle in the middle under the deck lid... I couldn't get the bolts thru as it was blocked by a spring/bar... Advice/help needed here... Thanks...

MY top has a couple of 3" studs in the rear holes that drop thru the latches. I made up a couple of 3/8 wingnuts with heavy flat washers welded to them. Reach under there and spin them tight. The bullets that are on the soft top work fine. Same thing was on the hard top but I switched them to the studs- no worries about them latching correctly.

I gave up on using the bolts and got 2 of the softtop type pointed ones and put them on it. I figure with the 2 supporting bolts on the side it would keep it on snug enough.

Spring bar? I'm betting one of the rear bow locks did not close.
