Default C3 seats

Im looking to change the seats in my C3. Id like to just replace the stock ones, since it might be cheaper, and more comfortable. Any ideas on what will fit? Id like to keep it at $300 per seat.

Many threads on this subject. Do a search and you'll find plenty. I went with Fiero seats for my 73 way back in 1985. I thought it was a good idea and apparently many others have also, which I found out after joining this forum. Mr. Mikes has leather covers and adapter brackets for this conversion.

I went with Corbeau A4's in my 70.
There is an article in a recent "Vette" magazine on a how to for these seats.

You have not filled out your profile. What year is your C3? Late C3 seats (79-82) are a decent up grade over the earlier style seats. They can be bought at fair prices, and are a fairly simple install.

You've lost me. What could be cheaper than keeping your stock pair?

I've been looking at doing the Corbeau A4 install myself, and the Vette magazine article you mentioned is helpful. Preciate it!

P.S. Here's the link: http://www.vetteweb.com/tech/vemp_11...stom_brackets/

If you do, make sure to get the low profile frames. I got the standard ones and the seat top barely clears the T-Top near the door opening.

Speed Direct has the A4 seats shaved down with special brackets to fit the C3.1k for the pair, sits at the same height as the original seats, looks to be a perfect fit.Seats and 4 point belts added to the wish list......

I also purchased the Corbeau A4 from Speed Direct. The special brackets are great. Since I Time Trial the car and my brother-in-Law had issues with the height of his helmet, I too went for the shaved seat option and the 5th Slot Install. I’m very happy, but this is way above $300 limit. More like double it.

when i had to make this decision the cheapest option was fiero seats. i found a pair for $50. bout 400 for the cover set from mrmikes.

redoing the stock seats with all the rust and damaged springs woulda cost more. did see a few sets of "corbeau like" seats cheaper, but they were cheaper brands with poor reviews.

I happen to know that Recaros out of old BMW 320 I will bolt right in, wish I had a better pic. They are a bit wide and rub slightly on the center console.

Default Speed Direct seats a little too high

Hello,

I went with the GTS II shaved seats from Speed direct with the special seat brackets and I find the seating position a little too high compared to stock. I am only 5'-10" and I find the position too high (makes me want to crouch when I am driving). I will eventually get used to it but it is food for thought if you are a tall person.

In early 2005, my driver's seat seams were coming apart in small places and I had them redone, as I wanted to keep the stock seats in it. They came out great, and the shop re-did the foam and the covering exactly like the stock seats, all stitching is exact. However, if I had to do it again, I'd have spent that $500.00 on some more up-to-date seats that are just better over-all. I've seen some really nice aftermarket seats that would have cost me less, but at the time, I wanted the original look. iokepakai, those seats look great. I could have gone f/ those real quick. IMO you made a great choice.

Still wishing, not my car in the pic.My seats are still stock.Upgrading the seats and installing a harness would improve the safety of the Vette, since we don't have air bags and such.Great reasons to spend the dollars,so I tell the wife anyways. She keeps saying that car is gonna be the death of me.At least it won't be in a Prius.

Something that has popped into my head looking at the seat threads here on CF. While I love the idea of a new(er), more comfortable seat, I have noticed that so many of them are taller - head rests etc. With such a small back window in the '68 - '77 cars, doesn't that make it very hard to really see what's behind you?. I think we all know that the side mirrors in these leave much to be desired, so it would seem that the rear view mirror is pretty important.

Do any of you have feedback on this after you put in non-stock seats?

Thanks!
Adam
