Default offset trailing arms...

ok i want to put on some 17's and i have a few questions. i know i would have to get offset trailing arms but do i need to change sway bars, front and rear? would i need some spacers? i know i would have to relocate the parking brake. everything is stock i just want some nice rims. the rim size is 17x9.5 wheel offset is 54mm hub size 70.3 back spacing 7.38 thanks.

since you're using hub centric wheel adapters to get the back spacing right, you shouldnt need offset trailing arms. others will chime in tomorrow

My fenders have the L-88 flairs. I also did relocate the emergency brake cable to be safe. But I fit the 17X11 Minilites from PS Vintage wheels with a 4 inch backspacing and 335X35-17 inch tire back there without offset trailing arms.

I did not have to run adaptors since the rims are custom made to your offset. BTW I do not like spacers. Plus I run ½ heavy duty racing studs. If you are going to run big tires, you may want to consider getting racing studs. Yes, the stock ones can break and your tire can come off.

Back in '95 when I bought the car, I put on '92 Vette sawblade rims, using 2.5" VBP wheel adapters and stock wheel studs on the mounting, the adapters did come with their own 1/2" studs and lug nutz....except for a style change to '89 vette rims, they still on the car....I did move the ebrake mount, of course, but I kept the same wheel centerline for loading on the rear diffy reasons.....those output yokes tend to wear and I didn't want any extra inherent loading....and yes, it's about at the limit with sway bars front and rear....255/50/17 rubber is all you can get under there today....I used to love the 275/50 Nitto for the rear, but they no longer made....the clearance is same on sway bar as the stock t-arm so no gain for me to do anything with the t-arms....frame is close also, I got maybe a 1/4 inch clearance...

When I put a set of 275/60-15 Drag T/As on my 72 Vette, I had to remove rear sway bar. Tires were mounted a on a set of stock Rally Wheels.

60 series has more bulge, and so you shaved it close....

I would be more concerned with the spring mount bolts....

If you read above you don't need to buy offset trailing arms for those wheels. I have 18x9.5 with 5.5bs with the stock trailing arms, just move the e-brake bracket and you should be alright with the proper backspacing. For the front I would stay with 8 inches wide.
