MSD sells a GM HEI rebuid kit with their own coil, cap, module, and rotor that is supposed to be a huge improvement over stock especially above 4500 rpm, it sells around $135. My question should I put this on my fairly new OE replacement distributor or wait and buy a whole new MSD distributor? I would also like to get the MSD 6A ignition controller, so I think I have to get the MSD distributor. Anyone using either one of these or knowing anything about them?
This is just my opinion, I say stick with what you have it is very reliable and I doubt you will see much HP improvement after replacing the distributor and going to a MSD 6A ignition controller. (UNLESS YOU ARE A SERIOUS DRAGRACER).
HEI parts are readily availabel everywhere if you should break down, I think it would be tougher to find MSD replacement parts when you need them...
