Default "Stinger" Hood

I've seen a number of C3's with the 'Stinger' hood. The one I am referencing has the stinger running down the middle of the hood (perhaps narrower than on my stock hood) and then an open 'scoop' that has an opening to the front and to the rear.

My question is, what air cleaner 'arrangement' is intended for this hood and who makes the best hood (quality) for my '80 L48 application?

If I went with this application, I would probably also have a re-paint and then add a stripe (black) the length of the car and about the width of the stinger.

In my opinion, this is the most incredible hood design/look offered for the C3 with the exception of the OEM L88/LT1 hoods from 68-72 (just my opinion mind you).

I am thinking about buying a Stinger hood. If I do, I'll buy it from Ecklers. I can't make up my mind which hood I want though.. I like the L-88 hood on dennisr's 81, and the twin-turbo hood on cappy's 81 also. Just can't make up my mind. :crazy: http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...dept%5Fid=1356

I saved this to my favorites, I think it is a link to a place that sells the stinger hoods, or the stinger scoops that you glass into your current hood. I am considering putting one of these on the 81', but better wait until I get the 68' on the road.

Hi Ted;

The stinger hood does look :cool: . I saw a 67 with the stinger hood
but it's not functional :eek: . It didnt' bring air into the hood or the
air cleaner.

Geez! If non-functional, I'll keep the stock hood that I have. Was hoping it would be some trick sealed air intake similar to the cowl hood (or at minimum an opening in the hood below the 'snorkel' that fed cool air to an open-element unit.

Bummer!

I'm going to pick one up from Vanacors at Fall Expo in Knoxville It is functional and has an optional L-88 style air box coming with it for the cold air induction to work with the new L-88 breather I have. JIM

Ted,

Do a search for Bamavette(s), he has a stinger/scoop combo that came from Motion Perofrmance, I think Joel is still selling fiberglass parts and I think it's a neat looking hood. Could be functional too.
