Hello, I need some more help. Check engine light comes on, code 22 (TPS). I buy the tool to easily check the voltage. It reads about .31. I adjusted it several times. The most voltage I could get was .4 and understand it should read .52. So.... I assume I need a new TPS.
Does everyone agree? If so, any recommendations on where to buy a new one.
Another issue. The cruise control works. But....is there a cruise light anywhere in the idiot lights that would show it is on?
Lastly, there is a hokey looking plate inside the driver's door. I see the word chevrolet but don't know what the other info is or means. Is this original. There looks like some body work was done on the driver's side front panel and some have said the rivets are original. Just wondering what I've got. here.
The tps was used for many years on many cars so most auto outlets will carry it. The door panel I would just google images for 82ce and see what others have. Idk what you are talking about so a pick would help

Unless I miss my guess, you are describing your trim tag. You will find the time/build code listed as month and week of the month your car was assembled. You will find a C (code for model year 1982) and the consecutive unit number for your car. You will also find codes for the original color of the exterior paint (probably with a U and an L) and the interior trim color code.
The TPS should be set at .525 plus or minus .007 so .518 to .532.
The range is from a low to a max of 4.5 volts at wide open throttle.
If you connect your meter to it and I assume you know how to do this, lift the arm and see if it cimbs steadily to 4.5 volts.
For set up.I leave the harness connected and insert two paper clips into the plug. I connect my meter with clips to the paper clips, make sure the paper clips and clips are not touching. Place your meter some where that you can see it. Turn the key to on. Loosen the screws on the TPS, move until you see .525. tighten it up. Here is the tricky part on final tightening the readiing will change. But go ahead and tighten it and see what value it settles at on the meter. So lets say it settles at .533. Loosen the screws again and set the TPS back to .517 (difference between ..533 and .525 is .008) then tighten it up again as it snugs up it should settle in at .525. This is just an example the objective is to see how much it changes when its tightened up and compensating for this on the re-tightening. Hope this make sense.
