Default Hood hinge supports?

Whats up with these things?? :mad I can't find them anywhere. Mine is in bad shape, rusty, different holes drilled in them from Bubba, and bent. Has anyone replaced them or made their own for their 69 vette?

Steve,

Are you referring to the triangular shaped, stamped metal supports that attach to the surround header and the inner fender wells OR the stamped metal supports riveted to the inner fender wells that also serve as the radiator core support mounts?

If it is the former, I might be able help you out... If it is the latter, good luck as these are very hard to find in good condition although a call to Paragon's "vintage" division might turn up a pair.

Regards,

Rowdy Rat,
Thanks for your reply! I am talking about the supports that the radiator support bolts to that are rivited on the outside of the inner fenders. The hood hinges also bolt to the top of them.

Steve,

Those hinge/core support brackets are difficult to find in good condition, mainly due to their location in the outer wheel well. The pair for my '70 were rusted badly in a few locations, but they were still repairable. I'm afraid that I'll be in the same boat as you when I get around to restoring the '69 as the brackets in that car look a lot worse.

I have talked to one vendor that has someone working on prototype reproduction pieces, but as of this moment, I don't know of any aftermarket brackets available... Perhaps someone else on the forum does. I would imagine that you'll end up looking for is a set of used brackets. I'd give Paragon Vintage a call... I'm certain that they'll have them, but I can almost guarantee that they will carry a premium price as well. I'd also call around to some of the Corvette salvage yards that advertise in Hemmings Motot News... Especially those located in the southwest.

Good luck with your search Steve... Let me know how you make out as I'll eventually have to travel down this path too!

Stan,
Thanks for the info. I have found a guy that is trying to locate these for me, but like you said he is trying to locate used ones. He also told me about a vendor working on a prototype. Maybe the same vendor you talked about. Hopefully this guy can locate me some used ones in pretty good shape. I will let you know how it turns out.
