Default Anyone running a Monster tach??

Well until I can afford the msd setup I am going to try and run a autometer monster tach. I am wondering how hard it is to run this on a 71 with HEI distributor?

Do you have a tilt/tele? Other than mounting it, there shouldn't be any problem. Very straight forward to instal.

I used to have a 5" tach strapped to my steering colomn with a large hose clamp. I couldn't get the wheel in the fully up position because the tach was in the way and would hit the upper dash area. I set it off to the right a bit but I never did like how it looked.

no tilt/tele I have the plain steering column on the car. I am not worried about looks. This is my only option until I get an MSD box and tach drive dist.

if your name signifies what i think it does....remind me never to start a quarell with you

I also used a aftermarket tach on my zz4 when I installed it. It is a 3 3/4 inch tach. Fits under there perfectly and even threw in a shift light. I used a heating and air condition zip tie that is very wide and strong and uses a special tool to tighten down hard. Painted it black to look good. A hose clamp will do the same job, but paint it black or color of steering column to look  here are some pics of it and the rest of my interior which I added a few extra gauges and stuff :jester

I use an Autometer. My mechanical tach has a broken needle. Till I rebuilt the dash (this winters project), the 5" will do...

The name does imply what you are thinking. The only thing now is I have bigger and better. I got a 45 not to long ago. Thanks for the pics everyone. It does not look like the 5 inch tach will look to bad.
