I just replaced the front calibers on my 1975 Corvette with stainless steel units (the rears have already been replaced). The car now and then pulls to the left when braking. This is confusing me because it doesn't do it all the time. If I let the car sit overnight and take it for a ride, it brakes straight but after 10 minutes of braking it starts to pull. Could it be the proportioning value or maybe a collapsed brake hose? Any thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated, you may e-mail me at: MDM1@WESTCHESTERGOV.COM
I agree. If your car pulls left, then probably the right rubber hose is collapsed inside. I have had this problem several times over the years with many vehicles. Replace both hoses, as if one is bad, then the other cant be far behind. If you get them air free, then you should have good brakes.
Good luck,
Also look at the inside of the tire and see if there are streaks on it. It would mean one of the new calipers are leaking. Just because they are new doesn't mean they won't leak. Some new calipers take a while before they stop leaking. I know this doesn't make sense but I had a brand new leaker and drove on it for a few weeks, too lazy to remove it and send it back. Finally phoned the company and they said send it back. Another week went buy and it stop leaking. Had it on for a year now and no tell tale strecks on the tire and a dry rim. This leaking will cause pulling
Also check the brake pads and rotors. Make sure they don't have any brake fluid on them and are clean. Also if you installed the original brake pads back on and swapped the inboard pad and outboard pad, it could take a few days of driving to break them back in with the rotor and get equal braking. lou
Im going with the brake hose(on the opposite side the car pulls to) as well, this happened on my wifes Z and had me going crazy 'til I found it...then I just felt stupid :bb
