i know others have made splitters for the pace car air dam , i did a search but didn't find anything.anyone got pictures and thoughts on how well it worked. would you do it again etc

Bee Jay has done one out of plywood which you might want to check out. Sounds crude, I know, but don't laugh. Many a racing car has utilized "nature's composite" for some panel or other, including flat-bottom pans on a few carbon fibre tubbed formula cars.
As for function, the further out the splitter can be extended from the leading edge of the dam, the less air will escape to beneath the nose.
