Default Engine Smoke

I just purchased a 81 with a freshly rebuilt 350. Car runs great and I have put probably 500 miles on it with no issues. The other day I decided to stand on it for the first time. It ran and sounded fine but smoke (burned oil smell) came out of the air vents for 10 seconds or so. Car still runs great and no signs of issues but it will do it everytime I put it to the floor.

Any Ideas?

Maybe oil coming out of the valve covers or the crank case vent or breather dripping onto the exhaust.

Right above the fuel pump is a threaded hole. It is there to put a long bolt in to hold the rod while replacing the fuel pump. If it is not plugged with a stubby short bolt, it will do exactly what you describe. Not sure about it, but it is a good suspect. Mine did the same thing, and would always leave oil on the ground after standing on it at all. Good Luck
