69 Interior Mirror
G'day All,
Has anyone out there ever removed/replaced the mirror glass in a 69 Vet?
I would like to remove mine so I can either refurbish or replace the glass,
as the chrome is starting to lift off the glass and I'd rather leave it alone than break it.

Honestly the easiest way to do this is probably to replace the mirror assembly in its entirety if you don't want to break the existing glass.
If you just want to swap the glass...you're going to likely have to break it and take out all the pieces. Stick the new glass in there with some adhesive and run the rubber retainer thing around the edges and away you go.
I wanted to replace the glass in my 1976, and would have just bought a new assembly, but it came from the factory wth a map light and I wanted to keep that...so am going the smashy smashy route.

I changed the map light mirror glass..i couldnt get it out in 1 piece...i just cleaned the surface and replaced with new glass...the rubber seal kept it in place without any glue...i was afraid any glue would affect the mirror....worked out great, should have done it years ago....

Did you check with an auto glass shop, as some do all kinds of glass work. I have a Henderson glass shop here in the Detroit MI area like this. They'll do custom bathroom mirrors, shower doors, ext.

Thanks Guy's for your help, looks like breaking the glass may be the only way out, I'll take
it into a glass shop and see if they can cut me a new piece to suit.
Flaco1801, we have a standup comedian here in Australia called Flacco, he's quite good,
look him up on youtube, there are quite a few videos of his acts.
Willcox thanks for the links, but I'll try and replace the glass here before buying a new mirror.
