Just got a new 383 stroker and was planning on reusing the fuel pump and pushrod from my old L48. I got to thinking about it and wonder if I should be replacing the pushrod because I now have a roller? The old pushrod shows no sign of wear whatsoever (~45K on the L48).
Also, it seems that there are a couple different length pushrods available for a SBC, a 5.75" which is what I have, and a 5.95". Does the longer pushrod simply develop more pressure, or is it for a different application??
Oh yeah, I'm assuming my L48 fuel pump will be sufficient to feed my 383, but any thoughts on that would be appreciated as well.
If you have a billet roller cam, you should run a bronze tipped pushrod.
If you've got one of the cast roller cams then you should be able to run a normal pushrod.
