On my 69 bb, I've been using the cheapo Autozone pads. I was thinking that the softest organic pads would be rotor friendly.
They seem to work OK, but not great. I do not think that I can lock up my 255/60 tires even with power brakes.
So, any ideas on upgraded pads that might have a little more grip.
This is mostly a weekend touring car, but I do like to do a little spirited mountain driving.
I am NOT looking for the latest high dollar full racing pads, but high performance street pads.
Yes Sir; There is a forum member on here that has a good set of brand name shoes for sale in the 15 pages of parts. 33.00 shipped. They will be a lot better than the Auto-Zone shoes. Made in the U. S. A. Sorry I can't give you his name right off. Have a great day. Gene
Yes Sir; Marlin Page 7 or 8 of parts for sale has a set of 4 Monroe Dunamic seim-met brake pads for sale for 33.00 shipped. They are great pads at a very low price on the forum. Have a great day. Gene
Performance Friction is what I have run on my C3 for about 8 years-Carbon Metallic! i also use them on a 2001 Grand Prix and they provide much better intitial bite and produce stronger clamping feel as they get hotter. Extremely quiet and no brake dust. They last forever!
I use EBC pads on my 94 Mustang GT Convertible with Cobra front brakes and they work great BUT produce lots of brake dust.
2008 Chrysler 300 uses Wagner ceramics-not impressed.
I have heard good things about Hawk HPS pads but they squeal and produce pad dust.
Hawk HPS pads do dust a little, but never heard one squeal. I loved them on my vette (manual brakes)
I just swapped them out for HP Plus- Holy crap do these pads bite! VERY dusty, they squeal just a little, and need a little more pedal effort when they are cold. But you better hold on if you step on the brakes hard when they are warmed up
Ive had the same set of Hawk HPS pads on my car for years before I pulled them off a few weeks ago with alot of meat left on them. (that was with some track days and auto-x events too!) $80 for a front set of pads isnt bad if it lasts you a while.

I agree
i have Hawk HP+ front and they are crazy good.you wont believe it .
lot of dust and little squeal. But they need to be warmed up. For example my car darts on the right with cold brakes. once warmed up , goes straight.
i have HPS rear . no dust at all
i should probably match front and rear but i have been at the racetrack with this set up and they made a great job
