Default 15 x 9" wheel backspacing

Hello folks. I've got a '70 and looking to change up wheels and tires. I'm looking to go with tires:

255/60 15 (rear)
235/60 15 (front)

I'm considering 15 x 9's for the wheels. Can anyone help with what backspacing will work with these? Thanks!

My experience say that 4" backspacing will work with the parking brake wire in its original position.

4,5" will work if one moves the parking brake wire position to the top of the trailing arms.

I have moved my parking brake wire and 9" wheels fits wery nice with a 50-50 offset, 4,5" in and 4,5" out both front and rear.

Thanks Ricky. Minilites makes 15 x 9"s with 3-13/16" backspacing as an option. I'm leaning toward that. I'm guessing that would work if 4 to 4.5 backspacing fits.

I have 4 off 9x16 on order at Minilite.

However.. It appears that they are having some problems with production (economy?) so the delivery is a bit diffuse..

Hi.
I put 255/60x15s on my 75 front and rear using 4.25" offset Crager SS wheels. I ended up using spacers between wheels and hubs to clear the brake calipers.

I belive that depends on how the rims are designed.

When the Cragar SS was designed, most cars had drum brakes. They didn't need to clear any calipers.

No i have ordered 4,5" backspace (0 offset) for my 9x16.

I already have this size and offset on my rather ugly Remotec BMW rims (with spacers) for my track tyres and they work just fine with the moved parking brake bracket.

If one is running a single blade fiberglass it may be a tight fit with 4,5" backspace..

http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

Check out this website. You can compare tire/wheel sizing. For example, I can input OEM specs on the left side then whatever to compare on the right. Below it will show you what the difference in fender/suspension/wheel wells/speedo difference, etc. Thought you guys might find it useful.

I spoke with Russ at Minilite UK yesterday and things are getting sorted out.

The Minilites will soon be back in production.
