Is it possible to install a line lock without rebleeding the entire brake system?
I know its not needed but seems like it could be a fun toy when used at shows and the like (not on the street). I am not a lover of bleeding, its a PITA, and I feel the line block would not be worth it if I have to bleed the system AGAIN.
First off I think you are talking about a Line Lock. It holds the front wheels while allowing the rears to spin freely. You can install this and just have to bleed the front brakes. The rears don't have to be bleed seeing as you are only opening the front system up. They work great for long burnouts.
Ok, looks like this is something I want to add to my of things to do. For those of you who have installed a line lock, any suggestions or recomendations as to an easy install and/or a good lock to install? Any problems or something to look for?? Or more important, any reason NOT to install one.
Bleeding the front brakes is pretty easy. I just did mine a few weeks ago, and I started with empty lines and calipers. I gravity bled them for about an hour while tapping the calipers a few times with a rubber mallet to release any trapped air, then closed the bleeders. Done. They've worked great ever since.
No reason not to install one. The brakes act as normal when installed. The only problem I had was double flaring the tube ends. Other than that it was easy and it works great. I hid my button in the ashtray so you cannot see it when not in use.
Another fun gaget to get, if you have an MSD box ) is a two step rev limiter.
It really sounds cool when you're staged and you run the engine against the low rev limiter! Argh! Argh!
And just imagine the intimidation factor at the stoplight !!
Having never used one, simple question here. There must be a secure lockout so the lock doesn't activate by being bumped accidentally. What it is? thanks
