Default clutch noises

Hope someone can help-I reversed up a slight incline today and some horrible metallic sounds came from the clutch. No slippage and works normally otherwise.Car is a 1970 coupe with what I believe to be a 1980 350 coupled to a muncie.
Could this be the thrust bearing?
Is a clutch replacement easy and has anyone got a step by step guide.
Appreciate any help

Nothig really special about R&Ring a clutch on a C3. Just that there is very little room to work.
A reasonably competent amateur could do it in a weekend. A pro could do it in a day, easy.
A Muncie 4 speed with an aluminum case weighs about 75 lbs. You could probably just bench press that sucker in and out, without a trans jack. Drain the fluid first.
You need to be careful of the distributor if you tilt the engine to get the trans out. It will hit the firewall. Some fellows prefer to pull it first.
Carefully read the shop manual, and make sure the jackstands are solid and steady. This is not the time to get creative.
Part B of that is, make sure your problem is the clutch. Could be a chip off of a reverse gear tooth rolling around the bottom of your gearbox. Drain the trans gear oil when it's hot. Maybe the barnacles and fish heads in there will wash right out, and you won't have to do the clutch at all.
Good luck.
