2" adapters would put BS to 5.45" with those particular 18x9.5's.
From 5.25" to 5.5" BS has apparently worked out for a number of guys who've managed to fit tires as large as 285/18's (35 front, 40 rear)into stock C3 fenders. More than 5.5" BS and you're looking at chassis mods. Less than 5" BS with 9.5's and outer sidewall interference becomes a real likelihood.
